What is planned for the coming months?

The 2025 season includes a variety of hikes across Estonia, such as:

Käsmu:

The second spring hike takes hikers to Käsmu – to explore how spring is turning into summer and how coastal areas are filling with birds arriving to Estonia. Starting with a bus ride to Palmse Manor, participants will tour the restored manor before heading to Käsmu Lake and hiking along the scenic coastline of Käsmu Peninsula, visiting Meremunga and Metsamunga boulders, and ending in the historic coastal village of Käsmu.

Abruka:

The first summer adventure is heading to the small island of Abruka near Estonian biggest island - Saaremaa. While Saaremaa has hosted hikes before, this will be the first time visiting Abruka. On Sunday, June 8, there will also be a hike to the nearby islet of Kõinastu. Visitors are encouraged to spend the whole weekend on Saaremaa to enjoy island life. A short boat trip takes participants to Abruka, where curious highland cattle and sheep outnumber the locals. If water levels allow, there's also a walk to the nearby islet of Vahase. The hike includes visits to a windmill, an old oak grove, ice cream in the village center, and the historic 67-meter lighthouse from 1897.

Kõinastu:

The second summer hike takes participants to a small island of Kõinastu. The journey starts from Muhu Island and includes a 3 km walk through shallow, warm seawater - dry feet are not expected! While hikes have taken place on Saaremaa before, this is the first visit to Kõinastu. The event follows the Abruka hike on June 7, making it ideal to spend the whole weekend exploring the islands. On Kõinastu, hikers will explore a remote island featured in the classic Estonian film Mehed ei nuta, visit an old light beacon, walk through a old oak grove, and experience a mix of rocky beaches, narrow trails through junipers, and quiet village paths.

Vilsandi:

Third summer hike, a 2-day summer adventure departs to one of Estonia’s most beautiful and unique islands – Vilsandi. It’s our third time visiting, offering a chance to explore remote places few Estonians have seen. The hike includes walking through sea water from islet to islet, with options for both longer and shorter routes across Väike- and Suur-Vilsandi. Over two days, hikers will climb Tontjaagu Hill, visit Vesiloo islet, explore the island’s only village, observe protected birdlife, and swim in the sea. Accommodation is tents at historic Tolli Farm, with shared meals, a bonfire, and real Estonian sauna. On Sunday, the group hikes back across the water and returns to the mainland.

2 Neeme Elamusretk:

The first autumn hike will take you to explore 2 peninsulas - Neeme and Kaberneeme, where participants will witness the coastline transforming into vibrant fall colours. Part of the European Week of Sport, the hike begins with a bus ride to Kaberneeme village, followed by a walk to the peninsula's tip with views of nearby islands like Koipsi and Prangli. The route continues to the Jägala River, crossing at Estonia’s largest hydroelectric power station. The trail passes through Estonia's most beautiful golf course and ends with a unique experience—walking across a 70-meter suspension bridge over the Jägala River, possibly right above the water’s surface.

Viinamardi:

The second autumn hike gives you an opportunity to explore Puhatu bog. Unlike typical raised bogs, this adventure offers something different - participants will wear high boots and snowshoes to explore the soft, floating wetland. The hike takes place in Alutaguse National Park and includes visits to four hidden bog lakes: Puhatu, Korponi, Martiska, and the secluded Viinamardi Lake, nestled deep among wetlands, pools, and mossy islets.

Vihterpalu:

Third autumn hike gives an opportunity to discover Vihterpalu and to say farewell to autumn colors and look ahead to winter. The hike begins at the beautifully restored Vihterpalu Manor, then continues to a tasting stop at the M.V.Wool fish factory. The coastal route includes visits to small harbors and hidden beaches between Alliklepa and Keibu, along with scenic views of village life and the foamy autumn sea.

Lavassaare:

The final hike of the year – the first snow hike – will be exploring Lavassaare, Estonia’s peat industry capital. The event begins with a season wrap-up celebration, awarding the most active hikers and showcasing the year’s best photos. The hike includes a visit to the Lavassaare Railway Museum and nearby peat fields, offering a look into the area's industrial past and how nature is now reclaiming the land as peat production winds down.
